For interested parties

This is the exact ballot initiative to the "California Marriage Protection Act" which religious and conservative groups are trying to get on the ballot, in lieu of the recent state Supreme Court decision.

If this was Jeopardy, the question would be "What is 14 words and spells discrimination?" Check the last page.

It's the same wording as the ballot initiative that was passed in 1991, but is now null.

How much more would legislative bodies get accomplished if they weren't so damned concerned about preventing society from letting more people get married? How much easier would all our lives be? How much energy do these people have to put into keeping the definition of "marriage" stuck in the 19th century?

It's just the state constitution is admittedly really fucked up. It's 110 1/2 pages. The governor has blocked two laws that would legalize gay marriage but after the court ruling he said that he would support the court's decision and not support an amendment against it.
