I am watching Doctor Who for the first time. The most I understand is the Doctor is OLD. The Doctor, his pretty Assistant, and entourage travel to different places and different times to stop bad aliens and investigate UFOs. That's the premise right?

It seems to be a good show but I don't know if I can invest in the fandom and catching up on it. Mainly due to the fact that I might be living hand to mouth for the most of the coming semester.
