They're filming Dancing with the Stars at the swing ballroom I go to on Fridays. I hope I still get my birthday steal dance.

ETA: Went fine. Still got my steal dance. The celeb was some guy from Iron Chef. It was a little annoying while they were filming. I did get filmed, so I may be on t.v. Probably not, but if I am, the episode airs Monday. I'll be the girl in the blue dress with the white hat on and auburn hair. Though they mainly filmed my feet. LOL

Can you spot the GQMF's in the crowd?

Photographic evidence that I met Zachary Quinto!

(Blurry Zach and GQMFs are blurry!)

It looks like there may be a slight smile there. ;)

"All the best!" From my understanding, he signed this or "Best Wishes!" for everyone else, but I love the fact he signed in the heart! He made eye contact with me when I spoke to him, too! I was surprised I could even speak to him without stuttering (though I was sort of loud, but it was quite loud in there). And he has the a great smile, was courteous, and polite with everyone. He is awesome!

Bonus Peter Paige (Emmett from Q.A.F.!):

I talked for almost five minutes with Clark Gregg about swing dancing and I forgot to get a pic with him. I even gave him the name of the local swing ballroom near where I live. Wish I got a pic with Coco Peru, too.

ETA: Adding more pics of me as they come in. More pics and awesome can be found here and here.

FUCK GEORGE CLOONEY!

X-posted to LJ

Standing on Ceremony was great! Saw it with ontd_startrek GQMFs. Met Zachary Quinto, Peter Paige, and talked swing with Clark Gregg (mentioned Atomic Ballroom too)! Zach was very courteous, patient and sweet (there were many people in our group). I may sound fangirlly but he has such a great smile. I got two half hugs, a group picture, a single picture, and an autograph. Pics to come! I actually didn't freeze up and said more than two sentences to him! I also made eye contact when he asked me my name for the autograph. :)

Looks like I'm in for an all nighter tomorrow. I've been horrible at keeping up with homework. School has been kicking my ass and I actually have a social life now!

Thanks, ihateclooney (HAHA Quinto said "FUCK GEORGE CLOONEY!" when one of the gals said his autograph was replacing the one she had from George - New internet meme on ontd_startrek is in the making!) for showing me about town, seeing IMAX Star Trek with me, and going to Intelligentsia for coffee. I forgot to give you gas money when you dropped me off. I'll have to give it next time!

All you GQMFs rock. Thanks oshunanat for organizing this. Thanks, Carrie! Also, thanks to everyone for putting up with my mania which kicked in after dinner. I kept doing Charleston. In front of celebs. OMG <.<

Gonna pass out now! I'm getting up at 5 to do school work!

Medea

Done with Medea sketches. I chose to paint her with her slain children like a Pieta or Madonna on the Rocks image. I feel it does her heroism justice. I'm really pleased how they came out though I'll probably have to do more. She will be dressed as a 1950's housewife and it'll be on the beach. I don't know if I should have storm clouds or clear skies.

Tomorrow I will do some Medusa studies. But for now, sleep!

My focus for this semester will be on feminist reclaiming, or reinterpretation of mythological or ancient women in a contemporary setting. Anyone have any good links that can help? I'm already thinking Medea and Medusa (I like M names), but I am not limiting myself to only Greco-Roman or Western mythology.

I'm freaking out over the fact school is starting in a week. Like really freaking out. I don't think I did enough art so I'm going to try to be super productive this week. I mean, I'm a senior and we aren't required to do anything over summer technically, but it's highly encouraged that we do art. I'm petrified of getting scolded by my teachers when I go back to school. Absolutely petrified. Though I know its irrational. Granted, I have probably done more over the summer than I have in past years - two dinky paintings and a few sketches in a smaller sketch book.

Also, borderline manic and not doing to well today. WTF brain? I'm worried that I am triggering it. But if that gets me productive and out of my depression slump, that might be a good thing. In fact, I've almost been crying all morning.

I don't know how many art majors I have on my f-list, but I really could use a pep talk right now. Or kittens. Lots and lots of kittens.

Depeche Mode OMG OMG OMG

Depeche Mode was FUCKING AMAZING live! If you get the chance, go see them! I had the BEST TIME EVER!

Here's the set list (which was easy to hunt down on Twitter thankfully-- my mind was so blown I could only remember 2/3's of it):

In Chains, Wrong, Hole to Feed, Walking in My Shoes, Precious, Fly On The Windscreen, Jezebel, Home, Come Back, Policy of Truth, In your Room, I Feel You, Somebody, Stripped, Behind the Wheel, Personal Jesus, Waiting for the Night.

ETA: Forgot Enjoy the Silence. D'oh!

Might be missing one. Not sure.

Peter Bjorn and John opened and were also a great band. And of COURSE I got a tee shirt. It's a little snug, but I hope it won't shrink. My voice is gone because I screamed practically the whole time. Can't sleep either, hyped on adrenaline so I'm waiting for it to burn up and for the eventual crash.

I think I'm in love with Martin Gore and want to have his Ziggy!Stardust!costume wearing babies.

So Batwoman has taken over the lead in Detective Comics, which is awesome since she is a lesbian superhero. I'm going to go down to the comic store and pick up that and the fifth book of Fables. My brother is getting his Batman and Dead Pool fix and I usually swipe those from him when he is done with them.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!?!?

I think I ripped a hole in the space-time continuum.
Out on the Streets, They Call it Murder

Hiroshima & Nagasaki : Instant casualties > 220,000 people instantly died, making a third of civilian Japanese deaths in the War
Later deaths: casualties > 90,000- 1,400,000 people by radiation/injury/other, including those who died before 1950, and grew larger over the years. Total unknown.

The number far dwarfs the amount of U.S. soldiers and civilians killed in the entire war (> 418,000) by at least double.

However, it is still far less than the total Chinese deaths of soldiers and civilians (10,000,000 to 20,000,000, probably greater). Total for Japanese deaths for soldiers and civilians over the war is > 2,700,000. Australian deaths: >41,800. Phillipino deaths: 557,000 to 1,057,000, possibly greater. Dutch East Indies: 3,030,000 to 4,030,000, possibly greater. French Indochina: 1,000,000 to 1,500,000, possibly greater. Korea: 378,000 to 533,000,000, probably greater. Singapore: >833,000. Et cetera. Et cetera.

People are more than just numbers. And that is only during the Pacific War (except for the U.S. statistics and perhaps the Australian ones), and not counting deaths after. I consider my paternal grandfather in those statistics because Iwo Jima literally drove him mad, deepened his alcoholism and abusive behavior, which led to his suicide in the 1970's. Remember.

Is there a way I can enforce my style on just one journal?

In thanks in advance (even if it is not possible and just because you all rock), here is a passage from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies:

The third was unusually tall, and though long dead, still possessed a great deal of strength and quickness. Elizabeth had not yet recovered from her kick when the creature seized her arm and forced the dagger from it. She pulled free before he could get his teeth on her, and took the crane position, which she thought appropriate for an opponent of such height. The creature advanced, and Elizabeth landed a devastating chop across its thighs. The limbs broke off, and the unmentionable fell to the ground, helpless. She retrieved her dagger and beheaded the last of her opponents, lifting its head by the hair and letting her battle cry be known for a mile in every direction.

Elizabeth found herself within view of the house, with weary ankles, dirty stockings, and a face glowing with the warmth of exercise.
