WTF DC? WHERE IS YOUR EDITOR?!

I am not happy with this week's "Batgirl." The guest artist is Talent Caldwell (you know you are in trouble when someone's penname is "Talent") and art is hideous. HIDEOUS.

Alright, here is an example of the art done by the usual artist, Lee Garbett, and inked by Trevor Scott. It's stylized, but in a good wa. Also, yay for Roxy Rocket being brought into the comics from Batman: The Animated Series.

And here is Issue #7 of "Batgirl," gueststarring Red Robin. This is the way most of the art is for the comic:

Oh, LOOK AT THE TALENT: collagen lips, big eyes, Sailor Moon neck, AND THE BOOBS AND THE WAIST. Also, Steph's nose randomly changes and Barbara gets the same treatment. That page is supposed to be a sexy one page spread of Steph showing up in a formal gown to an event, but the pose just comes off as super awkward. Her legs are also way too long.

And then, in the middle of the comic, we get this page and I swear, I think Liefeld snuck in to the issue because....Oh dear god:

WHAT IS THIS? WHERE IS THE EDITOR?! HOW DID THIS ONE PAGE SNEAK IN?! I know the rest of the art is bad, but this....

Oh sweet Jesus.

ETA: OMG MY BROTHER WILL BE TAKING THE MCAT THIS SUMMER. He's only a junior in college and entered straight out of high school. WHEN DID HE GROW UP SO FAST?!

Had fun playing with eye makeup today while waiting for a friend to go see "Alice in Wonderland." I am pleased with the results.

And Alice was FABULOUS for many reasons. It's probably my favorite of Tim's since "Nightmare Before Christmas."

Fan Fiction Fridays on Topless Robot have become a weekly ritual of killing my faith in humanity. This week was a sporking of a Harry/Hermoine adult fanfic in which ...well, Hermoine turns out to be a secret magical!hermaphrodite which the author calles a "Cryptophallid" and then proceeds to keep giving details on "cryptophallids" and their "cryptophallus" like a creepy nature documentary throughout the fic. It goes onto...well, rapefic, MPREG, and gets WORST from then on.

I had to watch an hour of Morning Musume videos to make it go away. WHY DO I HATE MYSELF? D:

Show #1 opens tomorrow, I move back to the dorms tomorrow morning and school starts Monday. And part of my school flooded during the rains (and some of it is still flooded). It's supposed to rain more this coming week and I am hoping it wont be closed during the first week like it was for Wednsday and Thursday this week, which made getting down there to set up SUCK. Regardless, traffic and getting through the crowd to get to class is going to be HELL on Monday, flooded or not.

Still, I love the rain. You don't really appreciate it unless you live somewhere that hardly sees it. It HAILED over the past couple days for short spurts. Little tiny baby hail! I can actually see my breath when I go outside!

Dear friend,

Just because I make one comment addressing the issue on Haiti on your girlfriend's Facebook, though you feel counter to your opinion and her opinion that sending money to fund the relief would be a waste and would rather have the money spent towards education here at home, does not mean I am am personally attacking your girlfriend. I have NO idea why you singled me out for your "personal attack" when I was the most polite poster to give my opinion and the most brief. It's an emotionally charged subject and people have differing opinions and express them on the internet as well as elsewhere in life. Learn it.

Sincerely,
Rin

ETA: Edited because I TOTALLY fucked up on wording.
In case anyone is trying to avoid the latest "No fur bashing plz" wank, I posted this recipe in the comments and I'm pasting it here for everyone.

3 pounds potatoes, sliced - Peeled or not, I like not peeled, but that's me)
1 1/2 cups creme fraiche*, stirred to loosen
1 1/2 cups Gruyere cheese, shredded
2 tbsp chopped fresh Italian parsley
salt and pepper
butter

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease 13x9 baking dish with butter.
2. Arrange half of the potato slices in the dish, overlapping slightly, sprinkle with half cheese and spread half of the creme fraiche over potatoes. Cover with the second layer of potatoes, sprinkle cheese and spread the rest of the creme over it. Sprinkle parsley on top and salt and pepper generously.
3. Bake gratin for 30 minutes, uncovered. Then, reduce temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, do not cover, and cook for 45 minutes or until potatoes are lightly golden browned.
4. Remove from oven and let stand for ten minutes before serving. Serves up to eight people.

*This is hard to find but some gourmet groceries carry it. To substitute, a day or two ahead of time, heat 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream until luke warm, then remove from heat. Mix in 3 tbsp. buttermilk, then cover and let stand in a warm area for one to two days or then chill until cooking time.

I didn't know that VB was trans until I read this wank. It still took me a lot longer to realize what "dayadian" meant then to switch to the correct pronoun. Jesus, Buddha, and Nietzsche, it isn't that hard, folks. "Dayadian" creeps me out.

Also, I have a scar on my forehead and that totally makes me Harry Potter like it does everyone with a scar on their foreheads. I've also have a great grandfather who was Irish, who I also had seldom "peer contact" with (due to him dead long before I was born) so I must be more Irish than American. When do I get my dialect in the mail or do I have to sign up for some Irish revolutionary group for that?

I hope I still get my birthday steal dance.

ETA: Went fine. Still got my steal dance. The celeb was some guy from Iron Chef. It was a little annoying while they were filming. I did get filmed, so I may be on t.v. Probably not, but if I am, the episode airs Monday. I'll be the girl in the blue dress with the white hat on and auburn hair. Though they mainly filmed my feet. LOL

He made eye contact with me when I spoke to him, too! I was surprised I could even speak to him without stuttering (though I was sort of loud, but it was quite loud in there). And he has the a great smile, was courteous, and polite with everyone. He is awesome!

Bonus Peter Paige (Emmett from Q.A.F.!):

I talked for almost five minutes with Clark Gregg about swing dancing and I forgot to get a pic with him.
X-posted to LJ

Standing on Ceremony was great! Saw it with ontd_startrek GQMFs. Met Zachary Quinto, Peter Paige, and talked swing with Clark Gregg (mentioned Atomic Ballroom too)! Zach was very courteous, patient and sweet (there were many people in our group). I may sound fangirlly but he has such a great smile. I got two half hugs, a group picture, a single picture, and an autograph. Pics to come! I actually didn't freeze up and said more than two sentences to him! I also made eye contact when he asked me my name for the autograph. :)

Looks like I'm in for an all nighter tomorrow. I've been horrible at keeping up with homework.
Medea

Done with Medea sketches. I chose to paint her with her slain children like a Pieta or Madonna on the Rocks image. I feel it does her heroism justice. I'm really pleased how they came out though I'll probably have to do more. She will be dressed as a 1950's housewife and it'll be on the beach. I don't know if I should have storm clouds or clear skies.

Tomorrow I will do some Medusa studies. But for now, sleep!

My focus for this semester will be on feminist reclaiming, or reinterpretation of mythological or ancient women in a contemporary setting. Anyone have any good links that can help? I'm already thinking Medea and Medusa (I like M names), but I am not limiting myself to only Greco-Roman or Western mythology.

I'm freaking out over the fact school is starting in a week. Like really freaking out. I don't think I did enough art so I'm going to try to be super productive this week. I mean, I'm a senior and we aren't required to do anything over summer technically, but it's highly encouraged that we do art. I'm petrified of getting scolded by my teachers when I go back to school. Absolutely petrified. Though I know its irrational. Granted, I have probably done more over the summer than I have in past years - two dinky paintings and a few sketches in a smaller sketch book.

Also, borderline manic and not doing to well today. WTF brain? I'm worried that I am triggering it. But if that gets me productive and out of my depression slump, that might be a good thing. In fact, I've almost been crying all morning.

I don't know how many art majors I have on my f-list, but I really could use a pep talk right now. Or kittens. Lots and lots of kittens.

Depeche Mode OMG OMG OMG

Depeche Mode was FUCKING AMAZING live! If you get the chance, go see them! I had the BEST TIME EVER!

Here's the set list (which was easy to hunt down on Twitter thankfully-- my mind was so blown I could only remember 2/3's of it):

In Chains, Wrong, Hole to Feed, Walking in My Shoes, Precious, Fly On The Windscreen, Jezebel, Home, Come Back, Policy of Truth, In your Room, I Feel You, Somebody, Stripped, Behind the Wheel, Personal Jesus, Waiting for the Night.

ETA: Forgot Enjoy the Silence. D'oh!

Might be missing one. Not sure.

Peter Bjorn and John opened and were also a great band. And of COURSE I got a tee shirt. It's a little snug, but I hope it won't shrink. My voice is gone because I screamed practically the whole time. Can't sleep either, hyped on adrenaline so I'm waiting for it to burn up and for the eventual crash.

I think I'm in love with Martin Gore and want to have his Ziggy!Stardust!costume wearing babies.
