Uwe Boll

FEARnet interviews Uwe Boll

Forget the interview. The most important part is here:

FEARnet: Are you aware that there is a petition online, signed by 18,000 people, requesting that you stop making movies?

Boll: Yeah, I know that. 18,000 is not enough to convince me.

FEARnet: How many would it take?

Boll: One million. Now we have a new goal.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY: Sign it now!

Then tell your family, tell your friends, tell random people on the streets.

He can be stopped!

Genealogy, Not My Grandmother's Name and Name Changes

So, my Mum and Grandma have been doing genealogy research into my family history for a long time now. Mum's actually in the midst of getting certified as a Genealogist, so a lot of her work can apply to her classes as well as to her own interest in it.

My grandma's been a goldmine of information, but sometimes you have to know where to dig.

There's one marriage, in particular, that my mum's been looking for for probably three to five years now. We figure the couple in question MUST have been married, but we can't find any PROOF. They've tried the local churches and every avenue they can think of.

And then the other day Grandma mentions in passing. "Oh, well you know that [wife] was a baptist."

Sheesh!

Other tidbits recently have been that she actually has a Welsh name. My grandma's name, to the best of my knowledge, is June. Always has been. Turns out her name might actually be Mehefyn, which is Welsh for June.

My mother was as surprised as I was about this little tidbit.

Also? She apparently wanted one of her grandchildren to be called Carys.

Mum commented that it would've been nice to know that when she was in the hospital with the staff telling her that she couldn't take me home until she'd named me, and would she mind hurrying it up a little?

Seriously. Carys. I LOVE it.

I'm actually seriously considering changing my first name to Carys.

What do you guys think?

In other news, Leo Tolstoy inspired a movie called War and Peace, some JK Rowling bint worked at a consultant on the Harry Potter films and JRR Tolkien is best known for his work as an etymologist with the Oxford English Dictionary.

No, seriously. WTF, CNN?

Arthur C Clarke dies and your byline is that he cowrote the script for the 2001: Space Odyssey MOVIE?

Just got home from seeing Art Garfunkel.

I don't actually have the words for it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Rename Me?

I'm sort of thinking about taking advantage of the offer to get my journal renamed. I picked Daoine_Sidhe on a whim, and I was never terribly happy with it.

So, my options are to go with my LJ user name, which is Tekenduis, and has been my online handle for years and years and years now...

Or to go with my email address name, which is snarkandvillainy, and sort of fits more with what I DO here on JF..

HELP!

A reminder, and a request!

I'm running the 2005 Livejournal Dead Pool and we've only got five people in the competition so far! We need more than that if its going to be any sort of competition at all! Come and join up for some good clean (if a little ghoulish) fun. If you're not interested, would you pass the link on to someone who might be? I would appreciate it ever so much! ^_^;

Never played in a Dead Pool before? Curious what it is?

Dead Poolers put together a list before the beginning of each year, of their picks for the coming year. The competition begins on January 1, 2005 and ends on December 31, 2005, with all entries due before the fireworks go off wherever it is that you live.

What are you picking?

You're picking next years dead famous people!

Person with the most points when the fireworks go off on December 31, 2005 wins!

There will be prizes, even! Come on.. You may have snickered, you may have recoiled, but you KNOW you wanna.

(If you'd like to use my banner for advertising, the url for it is: http://www.tekenduis.net/deadpool/banner.png) :)

Can I post this to [info]fandom_lounge?

Announcing...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Oct. 27th, 2004

I don't normally do these, but Fandom_Wank IS my fandom, so...

Uh-oh.
You are Snacky! You are obsessed with high calorie,
low health food that make everyone who loves
you fat and ugly. You do this on purpose so you
won't stand out. You made up some
"law" a while back that gets quoted
now and then, and the fame has gone to your
head. You are just nice to people's faces and
rip them to shreds behind their backs, though
your razor wit has grown dull from overuse.

Gundam Legends

The sixth edition of Gundam Legends is up and running, just in time for Halloween.

For the uninitiated, Gundam Legends is a collection of Halloween-themed fanfic short stories hosted by the lovely girls over at WIWP Productions. Creepy, spooky, ghostly and downright squicky, there's been more than one Gundam Legend that I haven't actually been able to finish because it tripped mild phobias.

Despite the name, these are NOT all Gundam fanfics (they were in the first year or maybe two). We've all branched out a lot since then and so its quite the mix of different fandoms now, both anime and non.

Great writers, excellent stories and a howlingly good time.

Check it out:

Walls!

Spent a bit of the afternoon mucking about with wallpapers. Thought some of the rest of you might actually enjoy these as well...

Eiri Yuki - This one is a more serious wallpaper.. Yuki on his own.

Eiri x Shuichi - A lighter approach to Gravitation, though Yuki's still looking grumpy. We adore the grumpy creature.

Furuba - Shigure, Ayame and Hatori, the fangirl's eye view.

Furuba - Kyo, Yuki and Hatsuharu, the fangirl's eye view.

Hope you enjoy!
