I watched South Park's Whale Whores recently, which prompted me to finally listen to Lady Gaga's Poker Face. My observations:

* Lady Gaga doesn't look anywhere near as freaky as I thought she would from all the hype. I mean, I don't think that's even mildly visual kei-level, there. But she is awfully cute in that video.

* I can completely understand why she's popular with the gay community.

* If you Google Lady Gaga, one of the related searches is "Is Lady Gaga a Hermaphrodite?" Wtf? I understand she's a gay icon and is bisexual and doesn't look traditionally feminine and rocks the over-the-top drag queen look, but... she's very clearly female. Like, boobies and everything.

I find her music by and large execrable, but her Bowie-esque fashion sense is genuinely entertaining. If you look at some of her other videos, they're quite a show, even if some are better enjoyed with the sound off.

Also she can actually kind of dance. Like, she has graceful movements and doesn't just hop around a lot. If only she made good music.

I like the singing parts of Poker Face the best. Also, it suffers from Generic Pop Refrain Repetition Syndrome. AND IS AN EARWORM. However, it is pretty good. Not nearly as annoying an earworm as that goddamned You\'ve Had a Bad Day song, which made me want to take a bat to the singer.

I think her music is probably better in small doses, like most artists, because it, uh... all sounds the same. Her voice is nothing special, but the music video is slick and sometimes she has interesting costumes.
