I wrote an e-mail to FNC concerning my utter disgust at their coverage of the general election and Obama's campaign. And, of course, I post it in my journal in case some Fox News employees come and read it. Have at it, boys.
SUBJECT: RE: Current news cycle on the general election
Dear Fox News,
For several years, I was a loyal viewer of your news network. I watched your coverage of current events from early morning to early evening, and enjoyed every minute of it. It was fresh, interesting, and always up to date. To me, you were the voice of modern Republicans in the country, and I embraced you for it. After all, you had the important talking heads I looked forward to watching: O'Reilly, Hannity, et cetera.
But that was when I was 14, and 15, and 16 years old. I'm eighteen now, and eligible to vote in the general election that's coming up this November. And I'm not voting Republican. No, it's not because of you - I've always been a liberal Republican, and I've felt the party's become rather a lame duck since, well, 2003-2004.
No, it's your coverage of the general election so far that has cemented my beliefs that you are no longer the news station I once revered and respected as the gospel. In fact, your latest dissection of Barack Obama and his wife Michelle is flat-out disgusting. Cry all's fair in love and war if you want to, but that doesn't include racism and misogyny.
You've called Michelle Obama 'Baracks' baby's mama'. Are you honestly ignorant of the meaning behind those words, and how racist they are? You've just insinuated that a candidate for First Lady of the White House is just the mother of Barack Obama's children, nothing more - and that's putting it lightly.
I won't even get into the 'terrorist fist jab' you guys called Michelle and Barack's victory bump earlier this month. Is it because he's black? Or that his middle name is 'Hussein'? Or have you just stopped caring about your slogan - that you are 'fair and balanced'? I see no fairness in your coverage of this election. You've given John McCain all the good PR while leaving Barack in the dust. Shame. And then you slander him over his race. Again, shame.
Fox News, you are not fair and you are not balanced. You are a just a tool for the White House and elitist Republicans who use you to get their message out in the disguise of 'news coverage'. Quite frankly, it's disgusting. Just end the charade already - admit your bias to the Republican Party and your disdain for anything that hints at favoring the Democrats.
I really can't think of anything else to say. Your recent news cycle and the ignorance it portrays is so rage-inducing, I can't write any more for fear of breaking into a curse-filled capslock rant of rage against you and your parent company.
Regard this as our break-up letter, if you will. In the words of Martha Jones, "This is me, getting out."
