Okay, so I have no clue what the 2.0 is for, considering there wasn't a 1.5 or even a 1.0. Then again, the whole jumping around thing is very much like the way I've been feeling lately. I can't say I'm sad or depressed, but I can't say I'm happy either. Have you ever seen a Mr. Potato Head with all his accessories gone? Where you just have that blank slate with no features, no glasses, not even his ears? Yeah, that's pretty much it right now. I'm floating in this space and I'm not really sure exactly where it's going to end or how. |

As he opens the email, Tomo immediately smacks himself in the forehead. He'd forgotten Shannon's birthday. Then again, it wasn't as if they'd kept in touch the past several months. It's that fact that brings an ache to Tomo's heart. He reads the email with a glance over to Zeus. "Odd how things change, huh cat?"

Just icing the last cupcake and dropping the sprinkles of shaved chocolate onto the top, Tomo looks up as the bluetooth in his ear goes off. "Fuck!" he laughs, having forgotten that the thing was in his ear. He hits the button. "This 's Tomo. Speak!" His grin is immediate as Ivana's light, cheerful tone comes from the other end of the line.
"Hey baby brother! Happy birthday!" The smile evident in her voice.
"Aw, thanks. I'm makin cupcakes." He inhales and grins. "They smell amazing, too!"
Ivana laughs. "Tease! Well, since it is your birthday, how about you bring me one of those cupcakes and I take you out to lunch. Any place you want."
Tomo's eyes brighten. "Any place? You're on! I'll swing by and pick ya up in about forty-five."
He hangs up, bends to give Zeus a taste of the icing, then heads off to get dressed. |

With a deep sigh, and a scratching of Zeus' ears, Tomo stares blankly at the television for another few moments. "Maybe I'll bring ya back something if you promise to not destroy anything while I'm gone." He smiles to the cat then picks up his phone and dials.
"Hey man, it's Tomo. How's it goin?" he asks as his friend picks up on the other end, the smile in his voice. "Yeah? Damn man, that's great! Timed that shit right, didn't I?" Tomo sets Zeus to the side as he listens. "Would you wanna meet for coffee or something? The Starbucks near your studio sounds good. They always add extra chocolate and espresso." He chuckles then pushes to stand. "I'll see ya in about twenty, depending on traffic."
Tomo hangs up as he goes to slip into a decent shirt. It'll be good to see his friend again. |
