Well, minus all the sausage sizzles, lol, but I'm sure they could scrounge something veggie for me. I can't imagine why Kate would have thought you lot might be mature. :P Vx

[Player, not pup. Vanessa finds the gift Daniel left for her. Current: January 10, 2013.]It's late when Vanessa lets herself into the house, sighing quietly as she kicks off her shoes and sticks everything in the closet. She hadn't bothered texting that she was on her way - once she gave up for the night, she just wanted to get in the car and go home. There's no sign of Daniel when she peeks into the main living room, but there is ( a brightly coloured gift bag on the sofa... )

I found it! Oh my God, Daniel, it's gorgeous. I was actually out this way last summer looking at houses and I really liked the area, but the only properties available at the time had more toilets than I have family members! Way too big and way too expensive. But this is perfect; I love it.
Getting in the car now and I don't know what I've done with the handsfree so don't ring me back - I'll just see you at home. I took some pictures on my phone to show you. I'm so excited!

[Locked to Est] This is the first thing I ever did for MTV, I think - I was... 16 or 17 at the time? Oh, man, my face looks totally different; I'd forgotten just how much it changed. And the 90s hair... ack. Why does Mum send me these things? LOL!

[Locked to Est] Clipsal 500 weekend in Adelaide, woohoo! Played my full gig last night - pole-dance and all - and was back to sing the national anthem before the race today. It really took it out of me after spending a week in bed, but that was to be expected. My doctor had told me, though, if I cancelled the gig last weekend and actually stuck to the bed rest, I'd be fine, and so I am. Plus! The Zoo Twilights gig has been rescheduled for later in March, which is fantastic. Right now, I'm a happy zombie lounging in a hotel room with my lovely assistant Daniel, who has been gracious about my whining and boredom and general grumpiness, and I'm laughing myself silly over this YouTube video someone linked me to: Drag cover of Absolutely Everybody. It's from a gay club in Melbourne and it's a hoot! The dress is spot-on, and some of the moves, too. And then the mostly-naked dancing boys get onstage and it's less accurate but still fun. (I don't have regular back-up dancers, and on the few occasions when I play those kinds of clubs and they provide me with dancers, I keep my hands to myself! lol) Oh, and, yeah. The platinum was waaay too much effort. *g*

Sun, Feb. 26th, 2012, 09:42 am Well, that was embarrassing
[Locked to Est] So, I'm in Melbourne, and I know it's still Saturday in LA but it's Sunday morning here. I was supposed to play a gig at the Royal Melbourne Zoo last night, to celebrate their 150th, but a couple of days ago, I kind of fell off my horse. I'm fine, ish. My friends took me to hospital; nothing was broken; I got myself discharged. And then I was feeling really not right and went back, and they are keeping me here for observation whilst they run some tests and stuff - the prevailing thought is that I might have some internal injuries. So I might be an inpatient for up to a week until I'm sorted. Daniel got here yesterday and stayed until the nurse kicked him out at the end of visiting hours. Bet she was sorry about that - I'm a much more pleasant patient with someone here keeping me entertained and distracted. I don't do 'still' very well for very long. At this point, I'm just hoping that I get the all-clear for next Saturday's gig. I hate cancelling shows. :-( And I feel pretty damn stupid that I got thrown in the first place, fuck. My own damn horse. He is going to get an earful, let me tell you!

Sat, Dec. 24th, 2011, 10:44 am Best. Review. Ever.
[Locked to Est] So a couple of months ago, I sang the national anthem at the AFL Grand Final|, and it wound up being this Big Thing because I added a flourish to the end and have been lauded or lambasted for it since, depending on the commenter's viewpoint on how sacrosanct the anthem is. My publicist just sent me a link to this editorial that's actually about a performance of Handel's Messiah in Canberra, but I think the gist of my inclusion in the editorial is that he thinks me singing Messiah would be good fun. *g* What makes the review noteworthy, though, is that when he's talking about my rendition of the anthem, he calls it a "prostate-tinglingly unorthodox performance". Prostate-tinglingly! LOL! I was stood in the middle of a field by myself, so if his prostate was tingling, I had nothing to do with it! ( There was this awesome little cartoon, too )I am dying here!
