Doctor Who S4 Finale

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SPOILERS )

Jul. 4th, 2008

So, I'm about to download the first episode of the Antique Bakery anime, about which I am so excited omg! I go to Megaupload and the letters it tells me to enter into the box? Are S, Q, and E. Megaupload is squeeing with me! XD

In other news, still sick. D: But after two pretty good nights' sleep, I'm feeling slightly more human. This is a straight-up head cold--congestion, headaches, sinus pain (which sucks! My face hurts, you guys. I've never had a cold like this before!). Then I take a Sudafed and the congestion and pain go away, and my nose starts draining. I think I will go hang with my peeps tonight, but I will be well armed with pills and tissues.

Hope all you kids in the States have a fun Independence Day, and happy Friday to everyone else!

Wizard World last weekend was fun.

Warren Ellis was awesome.

Doctor Who was sjkdhalkhf.

Started my new job on Monday.

Have developed some horrible plague.

Off to take Tylenol, or possibly just bludgeon myself to death with the bottle.

  • HILARIOUSNESS. =D I can hardly wait to get my hands on this steaming pile of something. James Wong, ILU! ♥

  • Apparently, nerdy is the new black.

  • Disclaimer: I have not seen, nor do I intend to see, even a single episode of Psych. I've been seeing a lot of commercials for the new season of USA Network's series Psych. Is it just me, or does this show have totally skeevy race issues?

  • Wizard World is TOMORROW. Yay!

  • I still need to pack.

WHY DOES NO ONE EVER TELL ME THESE THINGS as;kljdfhglkaj Ineedthatartbook.

*pines*

Jun. 24th, 2008

There's an ad on my friends page. *pokes it* Where did that come from?

Jun. 23rd, 2008

Because I love you all and I want you to be happy

Some things worth listening to.

I'm not here.

No, really. >_>

Anyway. This is a very nifty fandom fundraising auction in support of equal marriage rights in California. In case you haven't been following the news, right now it is legal in California for same-sex couples to marry. There will be a bill on the ballot in California in November that if passed will destroy all the marriages currently taking place in California between same-sex couples.

I think this is both wrong and absurd. And I like to see fandom gettin' out there and making a difference in the real world. So pimp this auction! I think it'll be awesome. :D

I would tell all my friends who use Facebook about things like this, but I know they don't care. (Hardly anyone reads this anyway, so it's not like it matters.)

In the meantime, I'll be over here, where my personal information is mine.

I'm gainfully employed! \o/ It's not what I want to be doing, but it's decent starting pay, and it's something to do while I search for a job I really want. So, that's good.

omg, you guys! Pink Martini! Why did no one tell me! This band is awesome! Actually, to be fair, I think Dense might've mentioned them and their awesomeness at some point in her eljay. But still! More, please. :D Also, have *ahemed* a copy of Coldplay's new album--it might even be good enough to merit a re-listen, which means I'll probably buy it at some point. I still love the title track best. (And not just because it makes me think of Doctor Who.) Also also, Coldplay is still a bunch of U2 wannabes. I'll let it slide--there are far worse bands to emulate.

I can't believe Wizard World is next weekend already! So excited! Can't wait! This almost makes up for missing Acen this year! Also, I am a cruel, cruel slave driver for making my friends get on the road by 8:30 am. I am also completely unapologetic. Do you guys want wake-up calls? Because I can do that. =D

Obviously, they were used for D&D.

I got to spend two and a half hours this afternoon teaching one of my mother-in-law's friends how to do some basic computer maintenance--running the disk defragmenter, running the spyware checker, that sort of thing. I left her with copious hand-written notes about how to do everything herself (or how her husband can do it, since he wasn't there to watch me), my phone number, email address, and a suggestion that given their house's location and distance from the nearest DSL hub, they might want to consider switching to cable internet. Because as it turns out, when they said, "Our computer is soooooooo slow and we don't know why!" what they meant was, "Our internet connection is soooooooo slow and we don't know why!" u_u They took the computer in to a repair place and had them clean up the hard drive and install more memory on it, and apparently no one ever told them that they didn't need more memory. They've got the same computer I have, basically, and my computer is only two years old. These people have 90% of their disk space left! I can't believe someone made them pay for more memory. -_-" (And, for the record, considering what was on the computer when I saw it and the fact that it's been six months since they had it in, I can't imagine there was much to clean off of their hard drive. Unscrupulous bastards at that computer repair place. I should've asked where they took it.)

It's been raining and storming here almost all day. At least it isn't flooding, but still. You call this summer? On that note, I offer you this. You can thank me later. :D

Jun. 11th, 2008

Oh, Coldplay. You and your extravagant, pretty, self-indulgent, stadium-rocking, wanna-be-U2 music. Why do I love it so? D:

Well, because it really does sound like latter-day U2. And I really do like pretty much the entirety of U2's catalog. Still, though. Coldplay is no U2. :P

If any of y'all use iTunes, they're offering a free track right now that is totally awesome. It's called Armando, and it's by a band called Locos por Juana--can't understand a word of it, and it makes me dance in my chair. =D

Jun. 9th, 2008

This.

That is the Earth and the Moon, as seen from Mars.

We put that camera there.

:D

Jun. 6th, 2008

That crappy Blade of the Immortal anime can fuck right off. This is what I'm excited for! Mamoru Miyano! Keiji Fujiwara! Miki Shinichiro! And character designs that actually look like the manga! ♥

Well, everyone else was doing it...!

My personality type: the analytical thinker

Ahahahaha. Yeah, that's pretty much me. ^^;;; I mean, critical? Self-involved? Unsociable? Incommunicative? Y HALO THAR all my unattractive qualities! And yet, I'm supposed to be interested in astrology, of all things? I thought I was an analytical thinker! I may joke about my Leo/Snake personality, but I do not take these things seriously because, c'mon. Srsly, u guys. XD

Yeah. It's early, I'm bored, so I inflict my boredom on all of you. :P

Jun. 5th, 2008

Warren Ellis just posted a little about his Wizard World schedule--no details yet, but he describes his signing schedule as "punishing". Yay? :D? I trust this means I won't have any difficulty making it to a signing AND getting to do some other con-stuff over the weekend.

He's also got a talk late Friday night, which is apparently performance art, solely so Warren can smoke. I guess according to Illinois law, performance artists can smoke in indoor venues while they perform. I want to see a rant on the comics industry delivered via interpretive dance, or I won't consider I'll have gotten my money's worth. XD

Also, he says he won't be shaking hands with every fan at the signing, and invites us to kiss his hem instead. I am filled with anticipation at the thought of getting to watch a bunch of fanboys make fools of themselves. =D I mean, I'm sure they would anyway, but this might make it even better.

Jun. 4th, 2008

Ack. Ack ack ack. D:

It's funny, because over the last couple weeks Juan and I have been talking a lot about manga and anime, and the state of the manga and anime industries in the US. Not two weeks ago I said that I thought both industries (but particularly anime) have already reached their peak, and it's all downhill from here. TPop, don't prove me right! D:

Jun. 2nd, 2008

Okay! We're all moved in to the new place, although we're not yet all unpacked. But we have internet! And phone! And cable TV! That's so weird--we haven't had cable TV in two years. I'd almost forgotten what it's like.

I think I'll watch some tv tonight.

Am also exhausted. u.u Last week was just so full of busy-ness, and now we're here but we're not exactly settled yet. Still a lot of work to do. And I ended up spending Saturday night babysitting my drunk cat when all I wanted to do was sleep. XD We sedated the cats for the drive, since they both hate car rides. Yuki shook off the sedative, uh, pretty much the moment we got in the car. -_-; She cried and cried and cried. She didn't finally lose steam until we were halfway here. My mom had Eddie in her car, and apparently Eddie was a perfect angel... because she was so doped up. We let her out of the carrier and she spent several hours staggering around the new place, trying to explore. What she didn't understand, though, is that when you're drunk off your ass, you really shouldn't be trying to jump up on that stack of boxes. It was really kind of hilarious! But since she kept trying to jump up on things and falling down, we needed to keep an eye on her. The stuff didn't finally wear off until at least 1 am.

And, yeah. That's all I've got for now. What have you crazy kids been getting up to this weekend?

May. 30th, 2008

One last thing....

Can it be true? *hopeful* I might be able to start using my LJ again!
