It's snowing. It's the end of March, and it's snowing.

I can't believe it's snowing. D:

I'm going to be trapped here tomorrow, aren't I? I hate that.

INORITE? It was snowing hard out here in Kitsap, I completely didn't expect it at all. I hope they don't close the schools tomorrow, I had plans, dammit. D:

TELL ME ABOUT IT. We got a pretty good blitz of the white crap down here in Oly. It's all gone now, though...I hope...

*fast snowcheck goes here*

Yeah, it's gone. Which is just as well, I'm not having any of that white crap dampening my weekend.

(It did melt off the roads overnight, yay! I'm happy yours melted, too.)

My problem is that I live on a mountain and the news only cares about Seattle. What I need to know when it snows is the following:

(1) Can I safely take the road down the mountain?
(2) Can I get from the base of the mountain to the freeway?
(3) Are there any major hazards on the freeway between me and Seattle?

I guess at #1 based on the road conditions in front of my house. I guess at #2 based on the "School closures" page for the closest city (if it's closed or delayed two hours, the answer is "no," based on experience). I guess at #3 from the traffic website. Presuming that I succeed in making it to downtown Seattle, the evening is an exciting gamble. I have to reverse the process, and I have no way to assess whether I can get from the freeway to the base of the mountain or back up the mountain. It can be sunny in downtown Seattle and snowing at home.

I just wish that something-- anything-- covered the road conditions I need to know about.

It snowed here too! But, thank god, it stopped in the afternoon when it got warm enough.

I remember many Easter blizzards from childhood. Oh, New England. ♥

Yeah, I remember blizzards. We seldom get them here (though we did get one not long enough ago). Unfortunately, it takes very little snow to trap me because of steep hills, lack of snow plows and deicers, and a strong tendency an area I need to travel through to end up covered with thick sheets of ice.

I kind of boggle at how little it takes to cause a big problem, but this area is just not equipped to deal with any amount of snow.

You have my sympathies. It snowed here last week, and there's a suggestion of flurries if the temp drops anymore today.

It was supposed to be near 50 this week, and I just had to turn the heat back up.
