	Not our business if it's people who don't hang out on FW. But I kind of think if they're invested enough to go trolling they're probably too invested to abstain from commenting on FW either. Unfortunately F_W is open for all to read, that means some asshats may read the fruits of your labor (finding wank, putting on latex gloves, sorting through the juice, finding the funnah and posting it.) but not feel the need to follow the rules..it isn't their community after all.
I wish I could have broken my JF commenting cherry with some insight on how to fix this problem.. but all I can think of is Young Whippah Snappers! and furious walker shaking and throwing my old person smell at them. But I'm willing to bet it was a lurker like myself who broke the rules.

No. It isn't. But if the trolling problem gets big enough, the communities may end up with locked posts. At that point, any trolling would have to be members.

But I'm willing to bet it was a lurker like myself who broke the rules.

Exactly. There's no surefire way to guarantee that everyone who reads a wank report will not troll the wankers in question, just as there's no way to prevent trolls from finding new targets on 4chan or Something Awful. Whether anyone here likes it or not, Starblade and Otakuwhatever went out of their way to put their fail out for public view, and they will be trolled for it; all F_W can do is accelerate that process, not prevent it.

F_W's principles on this are admirable but it does as much as it can do, short of not posting the wank reports at all.

Sure, but what were you going to do with it? I mean, say it's a person with a JF account and a membership in F_W. The mods figure out which JF account matches the IP and ban s/h/it. Or lets say there is no account, so the mods turn off anon comments. That changes nothing: S/h/it can still anonymously read F_W and then anonymously alert wankers to the wank report.

All a ban does is revoke the person's privileges to contribute to boobie trains and post recipes; judging from their comment (before the original post was deleted) about "Not everyone who reads F_W is part of your precious Hive Vagina," I doubt this would be taken as a punishment.

I guess it'd simply be satisfying to expose the little schmendrick, but I got the impression he really didn't care and was only posting anonymously because he's some /b/tard who doesn't have an LJ account.

Yeah, see, that's what I think, too. Of course, most people seem to think it's Enelar (I don't really, but I'm not the best at this). I'd be pretty surprised if whomever's responsible is not patting themselves on the back within the wank post itself.

Starblade may be a different case-- hard to know. Once someone linked ED and edited the ED article, the vast majority of the trolls would likely have come from ED.
