Wiki deletion request.
I realize this gets lost in the profusion of spambots currently attacking the wiki. There's a fairly extensive deletion request with an updated response to my original reply. This is her second request (the first being sent via PM maybe around a year ago?).

I feel quite a bit of sympathy. That said, I note that the wiki page doesn't show up at all in the first few pages of google results for her full name (I've checked the first 6). [First+Last name in quotes turn up deleterius on the first page, mind you, but not the wiki.] The wiki article is on page 3 of google results for her first name.

I'm torn here because it truly is an unusual first name, and there's quite a lot of content in the wiki. I'm not inclined to delete any of it, but would consider leaving all content but renaming all references to her as "C***a" (which was the name used to refer to her on the_hms_stfu and occasionally on F_W). It's a deletion request, though, so kindly comment and cast your vote as you see fit.

I'm disinclined to edit it. It's not her full name. And she chose to use it - we're not responsible for her decisions.

And if we edit it because she's embarrassed about the wank, well, it seems like we're setting a precedent.

Excellent point.

I can see how it could conceivably be a problem if this were on the first page of google results for her first name and full name, there weren't a bunch of other fandom-related things turning up (which there are), and it therefore might adversely affect employment. (Under that scenario, I could possibly see going to C***a, but still not deleting.) It does seem that her main problem is that she's embarrassed, which is still not a reason to delete content. But I'm open to other opinions-- I don't want to make a unilateral ruling on real deletion requests if possible.

If it's not positioned to affect employment, let it stay as is.

I vote for the name edit.

I agree with Snacky in principle, but want to make sure it's actually a real issue. The "purity" of the wiki wouldn't be worth her, say, losing a job via a well-done Google by an employer. But it's not a full name, so there's plenty of deniability there.

I voted "keep" over there already, but basically what Snacky said. I sincerely doubt that some potential employer would ever choose not to hire her because they found, on the third page of Google results on her first name only, some batshit crazy lady named Caina calling J.K. Rowling a fat bitch and defending the use of the word "retard" to insult random people on the internet, but even if they did, it would be her own goddamn fault for being an asshole.

I'd keep it as is.

I'd keep it as it is. That was her fannish handle - if you don't want to connect your real name with your fandom stuff, use a pseudonym like the other three billion people on the internet. Nobody else gets to just decide they don't want something stupid they did connected with them anymore and have it gone.

Keep it. She was soo much a part of the post-HBP wank, she should NOT get a pass on it. I don't know if Caina is her real name or not, but she wrote under it, she said nasty things under it, and she doesn't get to walk back from it. She's something like 40? now? Sorry, you did it, you own the pile of wank over there that you created.

Keep it. Even if you delete it, her wankiness will still exist on the internet through the Wayback Machine and Google cache. She wanked under her real name; she should live with the consequences. Maybe she'll think twice next time.
