Happy birthday [info]puipui! Hope you have a good day!

If I wasn't at work and knew how to do it I'd post an image of a sparkly cake.

I haven't logged on to JF since May!??!?

..then again, work did start to suck like a black hole around then, so it makes sense.

Still, May. Wow.

People who don't exist help?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Did anyone bother to compile a list of all the people who don't exist? I was reading the home school vs public school wank and I started wondering. I *know* there were more than girl games, bisexuals, and English majors, but I can't remember any of the additions, and I'm pretty sure it'll bug me for the rest of the day. :(

No color options? *pout*

Trying out another theme, partly because I was adding icons and felt like fiddling around a bit, partly because the font on this one is bigger. The bigger font is also the reason why I didn't go for the Bamboo theme. Let's see how long this one lasts.

Caution: swan in mirror may be closer than it appears

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I finally managed to watch "Hot Fuzz" last night.

...

I should mention that I am a bit of a wuss, so that bit near the end with Timothy Dalton's character kind of squicked me. Same goes for the reporter's, uh, steeple meeting. (Although right now nothing beats that movie with Adrien Brody as a Jewish pianist during WWII Poland for nightmare material, because the horrible stuff were done against a background of ordinary, everyday life. D:) Oddly enough, the car collision early on didn't bother me as much, probably because things looked waxy.

Otherwise?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG EFFING HILARIOUS. XD XD XD XD XD *plots to find time to watch the bonus materials* >D

Annoying as heck.

Do I have to re-edit my mood theme every time there's a software/server/whatever upgrade? I wondered why it wasn't working again.

Maybe I should email Robin or ZR about that JF webspace I allegedly have. The login page doesn't seem to work.

Where's that farking link button?

AKA, why I decided to change my journal layout.

It's kind of on the bright side, but looks ok. Don't know why it's called "Cartoon" since it doesn't look that toony to me, but whatever.

OMG, I just saw the cows at the bottom. XD XD XD

Can someone do a write up for FW?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm not sure I'm awake enough to write something coherent--I need to go to bed soon. ^_^a

But wow. Wank about romance novels and manga.

I was browsing the Smart Bitches website and came across this post: http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/manga_manga_manga/

Basically it looks like someone is asking for suggestions regarding romance novels that can be adapted into manga format.

The wank happens in the comments: http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/comments/1936/

There's people who are all "who wants to read *comics* instead of *novels*," and people who are replying with "pot, kettle" comments. Rather interesting, if a little stupid.

OMG DILEMMA.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So the latest Highlander movie was out on dvd a week or two ago. I saw it at Sam's Club.

Initial reaction: OMG BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LIKE HELL I'M GONNA BUY THAT AT THAT PRICE.

Second reaction: ...who the hell is on the cover? That don't look very much like Adrian Paul.

And then I went home.

In the time since then, I've read some folks' reactions to the dvd, mainly that the documentary was better than the movie and they thought it was worth getting just for that. And the fact that Peter Wingfield's backflip was included helped.

Now I'm thinking, "Man, I don't want to pay $19 for that piece of crap, but PW's backflip! the documentary sounds cool. Dang it."

I suppose I could wait and see how long it'll take before it goes down to $5 or less.

I LUV CRACK SO MUCH. XD

Really cracked-out idea up for grabs that occurred to me recently, due to my current reading material: Sanzo as a Jedi.

Discuss. Someone PLEASE write it since there is NO WAY I can right now.

"Obi-Wan no baka!" *Thwack*

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
XD XD XD XD XD

I didn't realize how much I needed to "see" Kaoru whack Obi-Wan with a bokken until I read Vathara's latest cracked up crossover. >D

Shadows in Starlight is a RK/Star Wars AU fusion epic (over 130,000 words? Heck yes, that's epic), that asks this question: "What if Obi-Wan found more than the tractor beam's location in the Death Star files?" I don't think many people can write crossovers as well as Vathara, which is why whenever I get an email notice saying she has a new story up, I immediately jump in. :D

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to reread it again. =D

NORA'S GONNA OPEN AN INN. ACROSS THE STREET FROM HER BOOKSTORE AND HER ITALIAN RESTAURANT. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW SHE HAD AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT. XD XD XD XD XD

I really, really need to go to a book signing there one of these days. After the inn is open, at least. >3

I was planning to ask a rather spiteful question about Deborah Smith, but the comment she made on Jenny Crusie's that prompted that spite has been removed. While it's nice to see that Jenny hasn't lost her marbles, I did lose a snark opportunity. Woe.

Aw, crap. Unexpected BJR sighting.

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, if I didn't know it before, I sure do now. BJR doesn't restrict her stubbornly stupid manner to FW.

And here I thought I was following some meta discussion about on-line/off-line divisions in the wake of the Thamiris thing.

ETA: Ah, now I understand that mention on [info]system about comment email problems. I didn't even know I had comments on this entry.

User pics - we use them, we love them, and love to admire other's. Let's dig a little bit deeper into this...

Comment on this post. I will choose seven userpics from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

Huh. There's quite a bit I never got around to reading for one reason or another.

... I have to start watching tv again? D:

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Apparently Peter Wingfield is signed on for the second episode of the new season of 24. No news yet if he's playing a recurring character.

Pro: Peter! On US tv! In a currently running show! Yay!

Con: I'll have to fight with my mom over the tv on... is it Monday night that 24 is on? >.>a Anyway, I am not looking forward to that. *whine*

Pro: If I pull it off, it'll be a break from the Disney channel!

Con: I know close to zilch about 24 and would be rather lost even if I did watch it from the season premiere. ^_^a

Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Adventures in technical services, #100 (randomly chosen number)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Potentially interesting book I'm processing ATM:

Title: Wired shut: copyright and the shape of digital culture
Author: Tarleton Gillespie
Published by MIT Press, 2007
ISBN: 0262072823/9780262072823
Cover jacket blurb: kind of longish )

Sounds like the book is focused on visual and audio media. I doubt I'll feel like reading it though.
