Zachary Levi, Zach Quinto, Chris Pine. Zachary vs. The Boyfriend. Part 2/2 [February 21. Crossposted to [Takes place immediately after this] Zach wags a finger at Zachary, then whips his head around when the doorbell rings. "You have a visitor," Zachary says, unnecessarily. "Yes, thank you Zachary, I know what a doorbell means," Zach says, getting up and pointing at him again. "Don't eat my ice cream," he warns, heading for the door, unlocking it and opening it. "Oh shit." Chris blinks a few times. "Nice to see you, too, baby." "No, no, it's not that--I'm--hi, I'm really glad to see you, and we should get in your car and drive somewhere. Maybe Reno," Zach says. All this standing in the door and not going inside is not good. He's not Hayden or Milo, but reporters do hang out at his place once in a long while. "Reno? I... is there something wrong with your house?" "Yes," Zach sighs. "Zachary's in it." Chris frowns. "You're Zachary." "Not when Zachary's in my house I'm not. Then I'm Zach because otherwise things get very confusing very quickly." "Oh, Zachary." Chris nods, then smiles. "I'd like to meet him." Zach blinks at Chris a few times. "You would? Was it unusually hot on the drive over? Do you have heatstroke?" "Zach! Come on, let me in." He sighs and pushes the door open wider. "Fine. But later on, when you're looking at me all deer-in-the-headlights, I want it noted that I tried to protect you." "He can't be that bad." Chris steps in, closes the door behind him, and leans in to kiss Zach. "Missed you," he murmurs. "Missed you too," Zach murmurs against Chris's lips. "And he's Kristen in a six-foot-four-inch geek suit. You stand warned," he says, pulling away and taking Chris's hand, leading him to the kitchen. "Apparently the gods decided that you were a very good boy and deserved a treat," Zach says to Zachary. "Chris, this is Zachary Levi. Zachary, meet Chris Pine. And behave." Zachary bounces up and reaches out to shake Chris's hand. "It's so good to finally meet you," he says. "You too, Zachary," says Chris. "I see you're into Zach's ice cream." "He has very good ice cream," Zachary says. "Here, have this bowl." He hands over Zach's bowl of chocolate. "I'm in trouble because Kristen beat me to it and told him about you before I could," Zach explains to Chris, heading to the fridge to get himself a new bowl of ice cream. "That's why they invented the telephone, baby," Chris says. "That's what I said!" says Zachary. "Except for the part where you called him 'baby'. I didn't call him 'baby'. That would be awkward and strange. Right, honeycakes?" He shoots Zach a naughty grin. Zach sighs, shaking his head as he reaches into the fridge. "I really do need some normal friends. I just can't figure out if such a thing exists or not." "What about Milo?" Zachary says. "Oh, wait..." "Chris worked with Milo. You can't fool him," Zach sighs. "It's not like we really bonded," Chris points out. "So you would put Milo in the category of normal, then?" Zach raises an eyebrow. "Not so much." "That's what I'm saying. You're the most normal of everyone I know, Chris." "I kind of like that distinction," Chris says. He leans in and kisses Zach's cheek. Zach grins, and settles in with his new bowl of ice cream. Okay. Not so bad so far. Zachary's behaving. Maybe if he keeps feeding him.... "He's a lot taller than Sendhil," Zachary says. "Must make things a little less physically awkward. I know way too much about physically awkward, let me tell you." Right, physically awkward. You mean like right now? Zach somehow manages to keep from slamming his head down on the table and banging it hard. Maybe because there's ice cream in the way. "Yeah, you're kind of the expert on awkward Zachary." "Isn't that the very sad truth." Zachary sighs heavily. "I wasn't talking about your height and lack of ability to find tall people to have sex with, you tool," Zach mutters, getting up and swatting him upside the head on the way to the fridge. "Hey!" Zachary rubs at his head. "That hurt." "Good. Behave or I'll take away your ice cream." "I'll bite you if you try." "Bite me, and I'll come to your set and flirt with you-know-who, just to mess with you," Zach threatens. "I'll tell you-know-who that you're messing with him." "I don't have a big fanboy crush--I'm not afraid of you-know-who," Zach shoots back. "I have no idea what you two are talking about," Chris announces. Which isn't very polite to Chris, but at least they've moved past talking about Sendhil and the physical awkwardness of sleeping with shorter people. Some day, Zach is going to drown Zachary in a bucket. "No one ever knows what Zachary's talking about," he confides to Chris. "That's not true," Zachary protests. "It's not at all true. I make lots of sense." "The only time you make less sense than usual is when someone's trying to interview you," Zach says. "That's also not at all true," says Zachary. "I give a great interview." "You confuse people and make them doubt their sanity!" "I do not!" "Do not make me go to YouTube," Zach warns him. "I have no idea what you're talking about." Zach rolls his eyes and looks at Chris. "He lies. He always lies." "I do not! I am a paragon of truth." He slides his chair farther away from Zachary's, and encourages Chris to move closer. "In case of bolts of lightning, best not to be too close." Chris shifts his chair even closer to Zach's, so he can practically sit on him. "Or I can just sit here and be close to you," he murmurs. "Oh my god, look at him," Zachary says. "Look how cute he is! That's adorable. You're adorable." He puts his ice cream down and pulls out his phone to take a picture of the two of them. "Hey, hey, hey," Zach warns. "When's the last time you got your phone stolen and had to replace it, before you go taking pictures?" "That was a year ago." "And the last time it was lost, not stolen?" "It was in my car! Not lost." "If I end up on the internet, I'm telling you-know-who everything," Zach threatens. Zachary rolls his eyes dramatically. "You won't end up on the internet." "You-know-who," Chris echoes. "It sounds like you're talking about Voldemort." Zach looks at Chris and gives him an adoring smile. "My little lit geek." Chris beams at him, and leans in to give him a kiss. Then he looks across at Zachary. "Are you in love with Voldemort?" "Not so much," Zachary admits. "He looks like he'd have clammy hands." "He murders people for fun and profit, and the clammy hands are the reason you don't have a thing for Voldemort?" Zach shakes his head. "You have issues." "How long have you known me? I have entire volumes." Zachary laughs. "Long enough to not be surprised that you say something like that and it's a point of pride." Zachary blows him a kiss across the table, then looks at Chris. "We've never slept together," he says. Chris blinks. "That's good to know." "Zachary, do you have any filter between your brain and your mouth?" Zach asks plaintively. "Of course I do, Zach," says Zachary. "But your boyfriend is here, so I've turned it off." "Well aren't we both lucky," Zach says, very dry. "You love it," Zachary says, licking his spoon. "I don't think I'd put it that way, exactly..." "Yes you would." "No more sugar for you," Zach reaches for Zachary's bowl. Zachary draws back with a big gasp, clutching his bowl to his chest. "Mine!" "I can't take you anywhere," Zach sighs. "I can't even let you stay in!" "My ice cream," says Zachary. "You cannot have it. It's mine." "You're going to be hyper and impossible for the rest of the day, and I'll have to send you to bed early," Zach complains, then looks at Chris. "We really, really haven't slept together," he murmurs. "That's... really, that's okay," Chris says. "I mean, either way." He looks over at Zachary, squints, then looks at Chris again. "Yeah, no, I'm okay with it being this way." "He doesn't think I'm pretty," says Zachary, shaking his head sadly. "Did I ever say that? You are going to hell for lying, Levi." "That's a terrible thing to say, Quinto." "How do you ever manage to get laid at all? Do people gag you?" Zach tilts his head and looks curious. "Only if they're nasty." "I don't know... I'm thinking it might just be a good general policy," Zach shrugs, then grins. "Much quieter." "Kristen would think you were being very mean to me." "I'd give her your ice cream. She'd forgive me." Zachary gasps. "You're right. She'd betray me in a heartbeat for ice cream." "Exactly. We've discussed this," Zach reminds him. "Women? Evil." "Kristen isn't evil! She's a Disney princess," Zachary says. "Right, Chris?" "You want me to argue with my boyfriend?" Chris asks. "Aha! He called himself your boyfriend, Zach." "I didn't deny he was my boyfriend, I just didn't tell you anything because I was trying to spare him from having you inflicted on him," Zach says. "He likes me," Zachary says. "I can tell. Don't you, Chris?" Chris looks a little deer-in-headlights. "Of course." Zachary beams. "Knew it." "You don't have to agree with him just because he actually asks the questions that normal people are too polite not to ask," Zach says, squeezing Chris's hand. "I'm pretty sure he won't climb into your lap." "I could though," says Zachary. Zach growls. Very deep and very softly. "Or not." He smiles at Zachary, showing lots of teeth. Much better idea. [Continued here...] Zachary's incapable of not answering his phone. It's a sickness. "Hey! What's up, man?" "Zachary... hey, I just wanted to call and tell you something," Zach says, linking fingers with Chris again. "I haven't phoned you in awhile, I know--work's been stupid--but I wanted to call and let you know that I've met this guy." Zachary pulls his phone away from his ear, and just double-checks that, yes, indeed, this is Zach. "Um. Another one?" "Can we pretend that I'm making this phone call some time ago, when I should have made it, and when I would have made it if I'd known that Chris was cool with me telling you? A little bit of playing along, please, oh-he-who-is-supposed-to-be-an-actor?" "Oh, oh, right!" Zachary clears his throat. "You've met someone, huh? A special someone?" "Yeah... yeah, I have," Zach smiles, looking at Chris, giving his hand a firm squeeze. "A really special someone. Boyfriend special. And I want you to meet him too, although I will, of course, have to threaten you to be on your best behavior, because well. Because you're you." "I'm always on my best behavior!" "You are never on your best behavior. Never." "Sure I am!" Zach rolls his eyes, but he's still smiling. "Anyway... I do want you to meet him. His name is Chris, and he's just... I don't even know, man. He's special." "Well, I can't wait to meet him," says Zachary. "Me neither. Okay, so... I'm gonna go, but I'll call you again soon, okay? Pizza's on me next time," Zach promises. "Awesome," says Zachary. "You take care of this guy of yours." "I will. Talk to you later, Zachary." |
