Ooops, I seem to have jumped into the middle of sockpuppetry wank.

Seriously - your live-in gay boytoy is suddenly off on a TOP SECRET WORLD ENDANGERING MISSION, and you post on your LJ about how scared you get when he goes on a TOP SECRET MISSION without you, and you don't expect people's thoughts to go immediately to sparklepens and lipgloss?

(Context for the unitiated: the journals in question are RP journals belonging to AU versions of an AU of an AU of a couple of Stargate characters, and due some rather complicated circumstances, one of them is living under an assumed name. So those of us trying (by invitation) to convince everyone else that they're attention-whoring sockpuppets in-character have a hard row to hoe. :D )

I am almost enthralled! So Cameron Mitchell is a girl, who is hanging out with this JD fellow who is, what, 21? and was raised in a cult? And may be an older person pretending to be young? Is he Jack or Daniel or Sam? Vala? Vala's crazy daughter?

By invitation? Like, this is sanctioned as part of the game? AWESOME.

Cameron Mitchell is a girl, who is still dealing with major disability from the crash in Antarctica. JD is the gay teenage clone of Jack O'Neill from that episode in season seven with the crazy Asgard, only now a gay twentysomething clone since the journals are set substantially in the future. Together, they fight crime! Well, they program computers and have lots of poly sex, anyway.

It's not so much a formal game, as just character journals for the characters from the Mezzanine AU, by ivorygates and synechdochic, which is an AU of Synecdochic's Broken Wings AU, which is JD and male!Cameron fighting crime, and having slightly more monogamous sex. (Both highly recommended, but very long, and will eat your brain. And your time.)

And yes, Syn told us to go play :D

There's a reason I didn't go into detail until asked. :D

How cool! Thanks for explaining it, and for the links. I've wanted to read more of synecdochic's work, but was always slightly afraid to pick something, considering that "Freedom's Just Another Word...." left me so gut-punched that I STILL feel it, three years later.

It's all gutpunchy, alas. (Though at least Mezzanine makes sure there's happy endings after all the gutpunches. ...more or less. Minus a few regrets and dead best friends.

...nevermind.)

"Freedom" a good punch, though. It hurt, and it made me cry through all of Easter, but I find parts of it very uplifting. I can take a lot if there's that bit of light at the end of the tunnel.

I found it surprising when reading that thread this morning that I find it just as upsetting and tension-inducing as if it had been real wank.
